Right before summer began I wrote a piece for my friend Colby at Uneven Cartoon Press. It was for the final publication of their Mish Mash zine set— one for every season— and it’s out now! At the time, I was feeling extremelyyyy unsure as to what the coming season would hold, so when Colby reached out for an essay with summer as the theme I laughed and happily (finally) obliged (surrendered.)
Colby and his wife Brittnee just got married AND dropped their largest zine yet— Mish Mash volume 4! It’s got 50 pages of essays and comics and short stories and art oh my. It’s only 10 bucks and features an array of fun creators. Can’t wait to see what else these two come up with in the future. As a creator I have virtually no discipline so it’s inspiring to watch folks dream something up and bring it to life. If you’re into that kind of thing then go ahead! Skip! Don’t run or walk!
Anyway, it’s autumn here and now and it looks like this
though just the other day it looked like this
what even are seasons amidst climate change? subtle shifts in feelings and needs and nostalgia, I guess. so ya, it’s totally appropriate to get a summer zine in December.
then suddenly without warning the leaves outside of my window started to change and I figure winter must still be coming, eventually?
with love from madrid,
